But in all seriousness, this is a recipe to keep in your back pocket. It is the perfect party dip, it goes on everything and is easy and cheap. Whip some up for meal prep and I promise you, you will be eating it on everything all week long.
Have guests stopping in for a quick visit and you need a dip? This uses pretty basic ingredients that I usually have on hand. Need to spice up some chicken? Drizzle this on top! Want to eat more veggies? Dip your veggies in it! I tell you this dip has your back. Just don’t try to spell it.

Ok, let’s talk about this recipe. It’s all pretty simple, you get the ingredients and stir them together basically. However, there is one very important step! When you shred your cucumber make sure you squeeze the water out of them afterward! This is important because you don’t want that extra water in your tzatziki, it will take away from the creaminess.
I usually do it by placing a paper towel down when I shred my cucumber and then just squeezing it out with my hand. I usually have to do it squeeze it out one more time after the initial paper towel gets drenched.
As mentioned before, this is good served with just about anything. A personal favorite of mine is with some soft naan bread and some cucumber spears. Enjoy!
Easy Tzatziki
Ingredients
- 1/2 English cucumber (about 5 inches) $1.20
- 1 cup greek yogurt (I use 0%) $1.24
- 1 tbsp chopped dill $0.15
- 1.5 tsp salt $0.03
- 1 garlic clove, grated $0.06
- 1 lemon juiced $0.10
- 3 tbsp olive oil $0.45
- 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper $0.04
Instructions
- Shred the cucumber with a grater. Squeeze the water out of the shredded cucumber using a clean paper towel.
- In a medium-sized bowl mix the drained, shredded, cucumber, greek yogurt, dill, salt, grated garlic clove, lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of the olive oil together.
- Drizzle the rest of the olive oil when ready to serve and top with freshly ground pepper.
- Enjoy with naan bread, pita chips, veggies or whatever you want!
